At the 0:18-0:21 and 0:42-46 mark, the director makes a good decision to film a close up shot of the tarnished faux-fur coats. This makes it easier for the audience to see exactly where the coat was worn out and why she cautions vintage enthusiasts to inspect what they purchase at these types of stores. The use of Miro’s narration over a slow motion shot of her trying on the fur coat she purchased in the early shot, made the video more cohesive and dynamic. There is also an overlaid music track placed throughout video, which adds to the trendy vibe of the piece.
The only
thing I would have changed about this video would have been to edit out more of
her “ums” and “uh” from the final clip. I believe that the director wanted to
preserve Miro’s “realness” by keeping in these word fillers. However, I think
it drags on the scene of her looking through fur coats 10 seconds too long. I
would have shortened the footage of her explaining the importance of quality
when picking a vintage faux-fur coat. This would have helped to preserve the
audience’s attention. Overall, I though the style piece on Sami Miro was
intriguing and the video showed the process of picking the best faux fur coats
in very entertaining and informative way.
